Precisely dose products continuously or in batches, such as plastic granules, semolina, coarse salt, etc. is a relatively simple operation. On the other hand, dosing fluidizable, melting, cohesive, arching products, etc. turns out to be a much more delicate operation. Gericke screw dosers are designed to ensure perfect dosing quality even on the most sensitive products. To achieve this, these dosers are equipped with a large and optimized product inlet section to guarantee mass flow from the hopper to the doser trough. This point is very important, because it ensures loading of the product over the entire length of the screw located in the trough. Different types of stripper-homogenizers are available depending on the rheology of the powders to be dosed. Their role is twofold: on the one hand, to eliminate any arches which could form at the entrance to the trough and disrupt the flow of the product, and, on the other hand, to ensure that the density of the product which load the dosing screw always has the same apparent density, whatever the load of product stored in the hopper. The profile of the metering screws plays a very important role. For volumetric or weight dosing to be precise, it is imperative that with each rotation of the screw the quantity of powder dosed is constant. This requirement can only be achieved if the screw, at each revolution, loads to 100% and also discharges to 100%. Gericke has developed different ranges of dosers whose executions are adapted to the constraints encountered in the food, chemical, mineral, pharmaceutical industries, etc.
